Yes that is right I’m talking about the French. and I’d like to applause their latest effort to stop “Banalization” from taking over some of their most cherished locals. In effort to stop corporate giants from moving in on the Champs-Élysées the french have simply said NO! Their reasoning to keep uniqueness and culture is something that seams to have been entirely forgotten in the Western United States as local diners make way for bajio’s and cafe rios, Wal Marts, and designer outlets.
This is the real war we should be fighting the War on Banal. Slowly and surely we are marching ourselves into concentration camps, and every-time a giant pyramid or dream mine is closed the banalist win another battle. I make, right here, a call to take a stand for original, lets fight for it. This won’t be the last article on myself declared war on banal.
Lets pick up our arms and fight it, applaudissez les Français!
Well Sundance almost came and went without me being a part of it, but Friday night I came in the possession of some free tickets so I went and I really quite enjoyed the film Eagle Vs Shark. I fell in love Lily the main character during the opening scene and was routing for her throughout the entire film. The film seems to come as a Kiwi answer to MTV’s hit Napoleon Dynamite and shows a love story on the edges of popular culture. The dialog is quite interesting and has some real likable characters. though the stop motion apple story felt a bit contrived and lacked refinement making Eagles Vs. Shark an independent film for a reason.
